Music Connex: Timothy Bloom

This year at the #ILuvLive Music Connex event at Under the Bridge, there was one particular artist which really stood out for me...

And his name was Timothy Bloom!

Coming all the way over from LA, it was a shame we couldn't get him on the show live, but a week later, and also an added Christmas song to the playlist, we managed to get him up at 5am American time on the phone for a quick chat! (Well, third time lucky after a few Skype issues.. lol)

This weeks Tip of the Week comes from LA based artist.... Timothy Bloom, check it and the interview right here:

Oh Wonder // SHOWVERSARY

Hiyaaaaa.

So the past few weeks have been fun! I got to see meet AND interview London based duo, Oh Wonder - who I have been backing since the very beginning of TIME.

Quite literally the nicest two people I have ever met, and so talented too! They absolutely did NOT disappoint, I was hanging on to every word they sang, and even though it was the last gig of their European tour, and they must have been exhausted, it still felt like they were savoring every moment - just as I was!

Oh Wonder Interview w/Jess Iszatt
Tune in from midday today with Jess Iszatt to hear all new music, Tip of the Week, an amazing cover from AMETHYSTS and an interview with the very talented Oh Wonder !! MEATtransMISSION.com

When I chatted to them for my show, on MEATtransMISSION Radio, I asked for their favourite song on their album, and they mentioned that though it was not necessarily the favourite, 'All We Do' stands out for them due to the response it gets when they play it live, everybody singing the chorus...

"I've been upside down, I don't wanna be the right way round"

This was a definite highlight for me. Almost made me emotional?! Haha. Other highlights include their acoustic version of 'Midnight Moon', them playing 'Landslide' as their final song and, of course, meeting them and introducing Josh to them - my fangirl of a brother! (who you can see getting his shirt signed below. lol.)

Check out the interview and my 27/11/15 show here:

And this is what my week sounded like...

Clean Cut Kid 4.11.15

Last Wednesday I caught up with Saul and Mike from Clean Cut Kid just before they headlined their gig for the Community London Festival, and picked their track 'Runaway' as my #TipOfTheWeek!

I first met this hairy bunch at Secret Garden Party earlier this year, on the 'Secret Sofa', getting to know them pretty well... (Check the YouTube vid below!)

Since SGP, I've seen them headline their London show back in July, and have perved on their Instagrams whilst they were away touring across the pond!

Check out the full interview with Saul and Mike here to hear them get their tips out (ooer), find out what they were doing at Tinder HQ, the idea behind their ALBUM, and Saul's fave food...

I also asked them to choose my #3Rs this week #Raucous #Relentless #Rowdy ... If you missed it, DON'T WORRY, it will be uploaded to catch up on the MEATtransMISSION Mixcloud very shortly, and I will be sure to notify you!

Witness the only day of dryness this year at the Secret Garden Party... Backstage at Secret FM:

April Towers

Also performing at the London Community Festival, was Nottingham based duo, April Towers!

I managed to catch the very end of their set and then, also managed to stumble upon a lil impromptu interview with Alex from the band....

Franklin - The Borderline, London

Franklin

It's been a while since I've seen these boyos, and not only does Seb have a new hairdo... They have totally grown up! A sorta cool rock outfit now, in a jam packed London venue....

We arrived as the Franklin trio were on stage, and it was SO rammed that we couldn't even make it down the stairs... fine by us as we are both (myself and Amy) total midgets and it gave us the best view in the house.. spesh for me wanting to take some great videos (see below!)

Quote of the night has to go to Amy with:

'I really like sebs face'

When he's drumming she meant - as he was so into it... New groupie? Who knows...

I noticed a fair few head bangers in the audience.. I'll be honest.. Guilty of the head-banging here too! The vibe was HOT - literally and metaphorically, never have I seen a room as attentive and full, with all ages young and old in a large, yet intimate venue.

Highlights of the show have to include: Alex's voice... please don't pass out on us on stage though yeah?! Seb's concentration face, and of course Brandon's need for shorts... Their final song (apparently their favourite to perform) 'Drain' had to be my fave song of the set!

Special thanks to Amy Henderson for providing the impromptu interview backstage at the gig....
Franklin
Hey! So I went to see Franklin Official last night at The Borderline in Landannnn.... Check it here:

Hear more of their stuff here:

And. I've gotta say, they totally outdid The Hoosiers IMHO. No offence to The Hoosiers or anything, they're legends and they still got it, but, I'm much more looking forward to hearing new stuff from the Franklin boys..

Hopefully I'll be able to drag them onto my radio show very soon! Maybe during the holidays when they're not at college... Wait, wha??? (yep they're young 'uns!)

Nick Brewer // The Bulletproof Bomb // TATE

So. This is how my week went.... It wasn't all plain sailing and smooth running... But I enjoyed it!

NICK BREWER 13.10.15

I had the pleasure of interviewing Nick Brewer before his BIGGEST headline show at the Hoxton Bar & Kitchen (that's why it looks like we are in a canteen together appaz - canteen is so American anyway...) And we spoke about his track 'Miss Online Superstar', which now makes me self conscious about the likes I get on my instas (lucky if I even get 11), his recent MOBO Award nomination (go vote for him - Best Newcomer, I have!) And my Tip of the Week - 'Talk to Me' Ft. Frisco the Rude Kid Remix, his Tip of the Week #GetYourTipsOut oioi, and looooads more!

He also picked my #3Rs for me, in honour of the 3 R's of MEATtransMISSION: #Raucous, #Relentless & #Rowdy in the form of The Wu Tang Clan 'Bring Da Ruckus', Eminem 'Role Model' & Tempa T 'Next Hype'. And yes. As you can imagine, it took me a while to make these radio friendly.

SO. This was filmed and will be up shoooooortly on the brand spankin new YouTube channel for MEATtransMISSION TV. But you will have to wait for that. You will also have to wait to hear the interview on my show until next week... But don't worry, I'll keep you all posted...

Guvna B, Frisco, Adee Ajayi, Shakka and Naomi Scott were all there showing support that evening, joining Nick on Stage. AND NB also took the time out for a poem straight from his poetry book, this guy sure knows how to bring light and shade to a performance #Amen.

As everyone must know, a new find for me is a winwinwin - Adee Ajayi's voice was stunnnning.

HIGHLIGHTS for me had to be 'Fall from Here' sung with Naomi Scott, Frisco getting up for 'Talk to Me' and of courseeeee 'I'm a Pro' with Shakka! It went OFF.

Hat's off to you Mr Brewer, you put on a damn good show!!!

THE BULLETPROOF BOMB 15.10.15

I got to interview Tom from the Bulletproof Bomb not so long ago... and Thursday I was able to meet the whole band!!

They did NOT disappoint.... If I recommend you go see anyone live it absolutely has to be these boys. They are just ace. And they played at the Ace Hotel. Nuff said.

Actually, almost nuff said......... Highlight of the evening had to be them singing their heart out to the row of seated audience 'LIFE IS SO F*CKING BORING' - we were raving in the back... shoulda kicked out the seats! Lazy bastads....

TATE 16.10.15

SO! The last time I saw Tate was very early in the morning... at The Secret Garden Party. On Secret FM. And I was wearing my giraffe onesie for the third day in a row....

This time was in the comfort (and warmth) of the MEATtransMISSION studio!

Despite some technical issues, and being off air for the majority of the show... Tate was able to swoop in and save the day with his guitar and Jaguar prowess, blowing us away with his cover of 'Hit the Road Jack' and a couple of his own tunes!

The full show with interview and session will be up soon on the MEATtransMISSION mixcloud, but in the meantime - here's a clip and a message from Tate himself!

Today TATE joined Jess Iszatt in the studio... And defied all technical issues Thanks for joining us Tate!

In between all that jazz, I got a pic like a right tourist with Katy B, Tinie Tempa & Shakka. Oh yeah, and a hugging lesson with Shakka. I scored him a 10/10 - which was a panic score, really it was an 8, but I was being polite.... I digress... Here are the photossss...

All in the name of Sam Way....

I have decided to break my blog silence! Hellooooo. Hi.

How are you? It's been a while.

So basically, someone today told me they read my blog, and I felt a bit embarrassed, seeing as I like to think of myself as new music royalty (not really but, y'know), and the last post I wrote was like a bazillion years ago, so things needed to change...

So here we are! It also happens to be a blog-silence-breaking day, BECAUSE I got invited to Warner Bros Studios on Dean st, Soho, for Sam Way's 'listening party'.

I didn't do my research on what exactly a listening party was/is, but I soon found out that it meant we sat and listened to tunes in a dark cinema studio, this one aptly studded with star lights...

Rarely do you ever really get to sit down and just appreciate the music. Every single track of the EP (with a glass of champagne in hand) flowed over us, deep voice, layers of production, each song bringing its own emotion - in my notes I've written that I felt like I was making my movie with Sam's vocals lending the entire soundtrack #Perf.

Favourite track of the EP has to be the title track 'Architect', however there was something about the lyrics in 'Tiger Love', and 'Stargazer' which seem to stay with you, (right now I'm listening to 'Stargazer', for about the 6th time in a row.....!)

So no, ladies and gentlemen, he's not just a pretty face. But definitely has the whole package (yep, I've stalked his instagram...)

Sam has announced twelve dates across the UK planned for October 2015 with the lavellyyyy Anna Pancaldi in support  (She was FAB at SGP this year!) for the release of his ‘Architect’ EP this November.

The single launch for ‘Stargazer’ will be on the 7th of October at the Old Church in Stoke Newington, Hackney.

Listen here:

Make sure to tune into my show this Friday 12:00 - 14:00 on MEATtransMISSION.com - I'll be giving his track 'Stargazer' a spin on my show as my Tip Of The Week, and who knows... we might have a special guest joining me in the studio....

Stay Tuned.

Tip Of The Week: Damien Ike 'Kingdom Come'

This weeks Tip Of The Week dropped into my inbox a bit like this....

"Hi
I hope you're well, I would love to introduce you to a new artist from Shoreditch in East London that we're all really excited about called Damien Ike."

And now, I am very excited to introduce YOU to Damien Ike!

As his first online release, "Kingdom Come", is a fine way to debut his musical talents, it is one of those tracks which you instantaneously fall in love with, yet get to hear something new every time you play it (yep I've had it on repeat...!).

The production surrounding it lends a certain depth, which is complimented by Damien's distinctive and not to mention gorgeeee vocals - fitfitfit voice, starting off pretty laid back and cool, which then crescendo's into an epic explosion of sound. The music video is dark, almost slightly sinister, which I'm a big fan of, although does lighten up a tad with the fireworks and the smooch at the end - you can check it out below.

Written by Damien Ike himself, this track and this new artist has evidently made a stir and pricked a number of peoples ears, already placing at #3 on The Hype Machine Chart - with his first release..! If you like Imagine Dragons and Kodaline, I'm certain this will be right up your street.

Check out "Kingdom Come" here:

Damien Ike is definitely one to watch, it all just leaves me wanting more - WHEN can we hear the EP, and WHEN can we get gig tickets... and WHEN can I buy the T-shirt?!

Check the music vid hereeee:

If you hadn't already guessed, I'm a major #FanGirl ... maybe he's the one who needs to watch out...
